What do you want to do with it?
300 is probably a dead duck as the ONE is cheaper and has a better signal
500 and 700 allow you to use it as a handsfree phone
700 has all the detail maps of Europe - if you aren't going to drive in Europe you don't need it.
Can you wait a month or so? See what TomTom announce at the CeBIT exhibition in early March.
Maybe all you need is a ONE with the extra SD card for all of W Europe? _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

The sound quality is not that much better. I would rate the receiver as a more important feature than either sound or battery.
In response to the OP, if you don't need hands free then get the ONE, if you do then get the 500 and if you need pan European mapping get the 700!
Or alternatively wait and see what TomTom announce at CeBIT in March :D _________________ Darren Griffin |

But no doubt I'll wish I had waited for the Tom Tom Two, or whatever they call it! |
Obviously you already own one and are happy with it which is great. However, in my wife's car (A Renault Megane) the 300, 500 and 700 along with manu other units cannot get a fix due to the athermic windscreen and an external antenna was required.
The ONE with its SiRFStarIII chipset is unaffected. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have the TT Go 700.
Can you explain why i can get a fix, ( upto 3 bars showing ) in my Renault Grand Scenic brand new 55 model, confirmed with an Athermic windscreen, without the need for an external antenna???.
I can place it anywhere on the windscreen, even on the console between the front seat, and it doesn't go below 3 bars. I know the more it shows is 'supposedly' better, but it never fails to navigate to destination. _________________ Using an A to Z

TomTom will almost certainly replace the current GO's with new Srif Star III models in the next few months. So if you are thinking of buying then either get the ONE, or hold off a few months, IMO. |

That throws out your theory on external antennas being needed on vehicles with 'Athermic' windsceens. Seemingly, not always the case.

Nope!. Any other theories???
Or is it that my tt go700 has already got this SiRFStarIII chipset??, because mine seems to work 'without the need of an external antenna' in a vehicle fitted with these athermic screens! _________________ Using an A to Z

Well I've got a TTG Classic and in both my Laguna & my wife's Megane (neither car has a sunroof) I get very good reception without additional aerials. I do mount the unit beside the mirror where there is a section of windscreen that does not have any coating. I'm only glad that the TT external aerial was unavailable when I bought my TTG which saved me from shelling out for kit I do not need. _________________ -------------------------------------

Not all athermic windscreens block the GPS signal, only specific ones. I know for a fact that not even all Megane Scenics have the same windscreen. I don't know if it depends on the exact model or year, or both.
Often the cheaper ones don't have any issues 8) _________________ GO1005

What a load of rubbish.
According to Renault, all of their cars have the same type of manufactored windscreen, from the same supplier. _________________ Using an A to Z

My Leadtek bluetooth goes bananas in a Peugeot 307. It's the only car I have problems with. I still get signal but it puts me off the road keeps telling me turn around :D |
