Hello Russ
Any chance you can do an install in my Golf?
I have the RoyalTek Sapphire and an iPAQ 3850 that need to be mated together neatly, sick of all the training cable.

Fucawi, I can certainly do the cabling to make it neat and tidy for you but the power would have to be sorted by a professional. I got Premier Car Systems in Northampton to link the receiver cradle to the ignition system as I am unfamiliar with modern car electrical looms. Any car stereo/alarm installer can do this. What year Golf do you have and where are you based? PM me if you prefer to keep that info secret of course. If you're not too far away we could always meet up if you want to take a look before deciding. |

That really is an impressive looking setup you've installed there Russ.
Hah - i can see why Dave had a moment of confusion when I posted the pics of my setup because they are similar, but yours is far superior in every way.
I really like it. Must be so cool to have the Navigator voice instructions coming through clearly over your car speakers rather than straining to hear like most of us have to.
Good job; well done. |

For those who have read my review, I have just changed the Proclip to a Smartclip. The reason behind this was although the Proclip did a good job, I found that the Smartclip was much sturdier once installed. The top lip on the Smartclip is much stronger and of a better design than Brodits in my opinion and it therefore holds it's position much more effectively.
I have continued to use the Brodit cradle in order to utilise it's swivel motion as I found the Smartclips' natural position was too angled backwards and didn't suit my driving position.
I would recommend a Smartclip and Brodit cradle combination to anyone doing an install from now on. |

|

My last company gave me a Golf GT TDi Mk4 for 6 months.
I put my navman 3000 gps reciever / ipaq into the left cup holder and angled it towards me, it never fell out, the charger port was accessible, and it was before I bought my re-rad antenna and worked fine !!
(Honest!) try it !! |

As an update to this thread I no longer have this car. I've upgraded to the MK V Golf and I hope to submit a review of my GO 700 installation shortly. |
