Hello all,
:D
After spending a couple of weeks lurking on this site I finally decided to take the plunge into GPS and buy a Garmin i3.
My natural choice of retailer was Woolworths £144.99 but when I got to the counter they said they no longer had a contract to sell Garmin products and they weren't likely to soon.
What a nightmare now the cheapest place I can find is Argos at £179.99 but at that price it brings the Tom Tom One in to consideration.
I’ve checked www.find-streetpilot-deals.co.uk and they say the same. Is Argos now the cheapest Garmin i3 as I would still like to buy one but only sub £150.
I thought you would all like to know about Woolies as well.

I was in PC World earlier today (York) and noticed it was being sold at either £139.97 or £137.97, cant remember which. I was feeling bit depressed at paying £169 a few months ago. |

Cool thanks guys it looks like i'll be saving £5 as well. :D
I did call Dixons about the i3 and they said they had stopped stocking them. I just assumed being part of DSG PC World would have none too. I'll check tommorrow. |

I've checked PC World and The Link both have no stock.
I'm begining to think the i3's days are numbered.
Are Garmin about to release a new model or is it just too cheap for them to make a profit who knows?
Any way it doesn’t look like I’m going to be motoring with a Garmin i3. |

Mmmm, maybe a nice little jumper would help the unit do a "warm start" and aquire it's sats quicker when they switch it on? :P _________________ Gone fishing! |

Or you could use it to keep your i3 warm and safe when it's out of the comfort of your car. |

"Are Garmin about to release a new model or is it just too cheap for them to make a profit who knows? "
From someone who works in Woolworths:
"Garmin have withdrawn the i3 from a number of retailers as the unsold stock has been bought by another retailer."
From Garmin via e-mail earlier this week:
"The STP i3 will continued to be supplied to our dealers and therefore sold to the general public. I do not know anything about these units being returned.
Thank you" |

Just shows how massive the profit margin for these things is. People who bought GPS a couple of years ago (including myself) were totally ripped off. |
