|
|
Hi
I am a newbie and I am looking for the cheapest place to get a Streetpilot i3. Is there any ideas?
Also I notice several posts about the different versions of software?
Also what is the difference between v7 and v8 maps?
As I have never owned sat nav previously, is this a good choice for a first time sat nav experience?
Thanks for your time and I appreciate your opinons

the i3 is my first sat nav product. it's dead easy to get to grips with and everyone on this forum is helpful too if you get stuck. it's pretty basic and lacks some functions of the more expensive models, but it gets you to where you want to go and you can get them now for less than £150 - i paid £200 for mine back in september...

I have visited mt local Staples store today and the promotion must have finished as they are now £169.99.
So far Woolworths is looking the best buy then, if anyone knows of anywhere cheaper than Woolworths either online or in a store please let me know.
Thanks for everyones help |

I bought my streetpilot c320 on ebay for a very very low price, took a gamble but ended up with a brand new sealed product! If your in the right place at the right time on ebay then go for it, make sure u have some sort of guarantee/seller refund policy, just in case its a scam! I've seen i3's go for very little cash on ebay. READ THE DESCRIPTIONS CAREFULLY THOUGH! _________________ Garmin Streetpilot C320 Owner, waiting for postcode search facility!!!!

Yeah, it is very important to check descriptions and refunds policies very carefully.
I very nearly bought an i3 from a seller who had a load of them going for about £125, I'm glad i resisted because I have since read the feedback left for the items sold and it seems that the units were german imports without UK mapping.
In the end I went to Woolies in Cirencester and picked up a Garmin Streetpilot i3 with V.8 maps for £144.99. They had 2 left!
Be careful what u buy... |

Local Woolies sold out today (empty display boxes on shelf at £144.99) but local 'The Link' sold me one for £149.99 which I thought was OK since Woolies web site which has them in stock wanted £4.95 postage. |

They actually look like they are going up in price, went to my local Halfords and it was £179 even on the web site as well. I have actually seen them on Kay-online for £279 8O OMG
How come the prices vary so much between shops, the odd few £ I understand but not the kind of diffs I'm seeing, unless Garmin are discounting the units to try and get some market share back from TomTom or the other ones
When I was out last night on the M25 it looked like everyone got Sat Nav for xmas . |
