Anyone know why Copilot is so quick?
there many reasons why the timings would be different:
1. The maps used by CoPilot might not have the same data as TTN2 (I don't have CoPilot). If CoPilot doesn't show the same number of roads then the search could be considerably lighter.
2. The algorithm used may be very different. For example, TT appears to perform a full search, but maybe CoPilot performs a quick search that uses some comprises.
3. Even if the 2 programs have the same map and algorithm there could be a very large differences in the way they are implemented. Speed and efficiency isn't always the programmers priority: the slow correct answer is always preferable to the fast wrong answer.

Ok then folks, chew on this !!
iPAC 3970
TTN 2.22
Lexar 128mb SD
Using the original route it took 22 minutes to 97464 roads with 194.43 miles to go and at that point I got bored and binned the idea
Now my speed setting are set for my truck and are:
M-way - 60
Major Road 50
secondary road 40
connecting road 30
local road 25
and destination road 20
Is this why it's taking soooooo long or is there another problem here.
My 3970 has always been slower than my wife's 3950 but she is running the default speed settings.
Any thoughts ? _________________ Gary

Here are some suggestions on improving the routig result. Not necessarily the calculation times... but it is worth a try.
Road type...................Speed set 1..........Speed set 2
Motorway............................60..........................60
International road...............45..........................45
Major road.........................45..........................45
Secondary road................40..........................40
Connecting road............... 33..........................35
Important local road...........37..........................35
Local road.........................30..........................30
Destination road................25..........................20
There will be some warnings regarding longer calculation times, but that's just because the numbers deviate from the defaults. I have had excellent results with set #1. Speeds are in mph _________________ Lutz
