Can POIedit / sync work with the Garmin StreetPilot i3. If so how? When I click on "+" it won't work.

It's a 2 stage process. Select the POI category file(s) you want, then click Local[+] and when you are presented with the selection dialog choose a directory somewhere obvious and free of other files, and select the Garmin (.csv) format.

Then open Garmin's POILoader software, select the directory where you have just placed the POI .csv and .bmp files, tell it whether to use metric or statute units, select express and, with the i3 connected (and the USB drivers installed of course ;-) ) click next and wait for the upload to finish.
