I saw an i3 for the first time today on display in Comet, alongside other units. I can't believe how small it is! Do any users have trouble seeing the display? It's about a quarter the size of the C320's. |

I've had no trouble seeing the screen and I've tried it both on the windscreen ( in a Picasso) and stuck on the central part of the dash. It's quite easy to read the arrival time and distance to turn on the bottom of the display, and you can also see the street names on the map without any trouble. The map zooms in as you approach a turn anyway. |

Got my i3 Thursday from Maplin at £199 .
Two days running fine then I downloaded updates to my computer from Garmin site.
Plugged in i3 and tried to download.
Seconds later I get a message on the tiny screen
SYSTEM SOFTWARE MISSING.
So now I presume clever me has erased everything in the Garmin.
Now what the H??? do I do please |

You could try and get the latest firmware from Garmin's website and download it to the GPS.
Failing that you have to return it to the retailer or ask Garmin to fix it for you. _________________ Gone fishing! |

Unfortunately, upgrading firmware on any device always carries a risk. Was there any interruption to the firmware upload? All you can do is retry a firmware upload. If this fails, the unit will have to go back to garmin, where an engineer will put the firmware back on. |

Any one know how to remove the camera POIs, also revert to original firmware, I didnt have problems with lock up, but found I3 slower to respond when setting routes, has to be moving a while before giving directions, also , on satelite loss , seemed to think I was going cross country , fields that is !!! |

i'm pretty sure if you upload a new file it overites the old one..delete all the poi's you dont wont leaving just one file say mcdonalds for instance then load that file ...dont think you will be able to go back to v2.1 cos all files about now are the v 2.4 upgrade. |

yes, the bitmap needed to be 8-bit or 16-bit. i added a coloured dot to the corner so photoshop didn't save it as 2-bit (i.e. black and white) 0- it now works.
as for removing poi's i think you just need to upload again and it clears any that were on it. so if you only upload 1 set it will get rid of previous ones you had on it.

Hi
Just out of interest, what happens when a new pocketGPS camera database becomes available? I am using Mafts POI which works great, but how would I incorporate the new databse in with this?
I notice that your (MaFt) POI camera files have been renamed. Is this so I can add the new files into your POI file as seperate files and just re-upload the whole lot?
Or would I simply replace all your entries in the camera .csv with all the entries from the individual pocketGPS files?
I hope that makes sense. |

to make this easier i might actually put the names back to how they are in the site's download. i only changed the name for aesthetic purposes so it looked neater on the i3.
if you use them direct from the pocketgps site you need to use the 'other' 'csv' files but you'll have to use the bitmaps from my zip as the ones inthe sites download don't seem to work - they may fix this in the next release and even do a garmin folder for us.
hope that makes sense!! |
