Yep, only because I had to do one yesterday on my 3870! Hold in the outer two hardware buttons eg calendar and task (I think), and whilst holding those in, push the soft reset button and hold for around 20-30 seconds (until screen dims and goes dead.
I then let go of the buttons and the soft reset pin, and just did a soft reset after this and it came on completely wiped. |

Correct instructions (as I would expect from Dave), though there are a few qualifications I can add that may be useful.
Firstly, you can only hard reset if you don't have any external power connected, so you have to remove any charger cables or expansion packs (if the pack contains an external battery).
Secondly, the wipe from a hard reset is not total. The iPAQ File Store is left untouched, also if you have Permanent PIM on your iPAQ and it is enabled, any category of PIM data you have selected in Permanent PIM will survive the hard reset too.
