I own TomTom Navigator 5.0 with a Bluetooth TomTom Wireless GPS MkII. This is used on a HP iPAQ hx2410.
I have downloaded the demo of MemoryMap (version OS2004 4.4.2) (with a view to buying it), but I cannot get the GPS bit to function in the Pocket Navigator OS 2004.
Here's the steps I have taken. (I have/am not running the TomTom software).
1 ) Switched on the GPS device.
2 ) Switched on Bluetooth on the PDA.
3 ) In the Manager "Connected" to TomTom Wireless GPS Mk2.
4 ) Confirmed it is connected.
5 ) Started MemoryMap Pocket Nav OS 2004.
6 ) Selected "GPS" then "Settings" from the menus.
7 ) Set Manufacturer to "NMEA"
8 ) Model is locked to "NMEA 0183, RMC"
9 ) Set Port to "COM5; Bluetoth Serial Port (" (Rest is hidden)
10 ) Set Baud to "2400". (I hava also tried 4800).
11 ) Clicked Ok then "GPS", "Position" (Note the green light is flash by now on the GPS device so it has a lock).
The window says: "Communication timeout"
If I connect my Bluetooth dongle to my PC and use the same settings as above then the PC MemoryMap software locks on to GPS and displays the position.
What do I need to do to use TomTom GPS with MemoryMap? |

I have just read about the TomTom Bluetooth Driver hijacking the com port. However when I run a registery editor the following Key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial5\DLL is set to BtCeIf.dll
i.e. not the TomTom driver!
Help! |

Yepeee!
Thanks mate! It now works!
I was thrown because COM5: had Bluetooth text by it, where as COM8: is blank.
Thanks.
(Now I know it works I can register/buy it) |
