|
|
HELP !!
Just got a acer N35 (good piece of kit) with destinator 3 installed have managed to install the speed camera poi using instructions from a message by CDRskull. But I did notice this database is a little out of date.
Am i right in saying you can only convert the CSV files to your favorites using Destinator pro Console ???
Can i get a console program to do the same? or is there some other software out there I may use to convert the CSV database to my favorites.
Any help greatfully recieved

Probie,
You seem to be having the same probs as a lot of us new guys.
I'm a new user, but have found out that you can use the database from other sites like the one you mentioned or
poihandler.com - Most are free here except the cameras (surprise surprise) but it's only 12 euro's for the year.
But the site appears to be updated very often and supplies the necessary files for destinator (ie. dat files) so you can copy them straight to the device using explorer.
If anyone else can help please do.
Pocketgps are you planning on providing the files in .dat format???

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the info will take a look at the web site.
There must be some software expert out there who can write some shareware to convert the CSV database to the necessery dat files.
Living in hope !!

Probie,
A user called Allycat, sent me to this link
http://pocketgpsworld.com/modules.phpname=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=18572
This tells us to change 1 digit in the config ini file and hey presto the import favourites button appears in Destinator console.
With this button we can download the info from this site.
Hoooray

Probie,
I'm halfway through process.
Check your personal messages on this site, cos I've left one for you.
I've also noticed that this site has changed it's file structure so when you choose the destinator file from the zip file you don't have to change column names as they are correct.

Mike try this found these instructions....
Open pocketgps_uk_sc zip file
Open the single file version folder(this has all camera types in one file)
Open the file pocketgps_uk_sc
Once opened in Microsoft excel you will see the column names
Column A-longitude
Column B-latitude
Column C-name
Example; -2.47396 52.69573 GATSO:6381@30
Destinator console favourites importer does not like this format,
So you need to edit it to
Column A-name
Column B-name
Column C-longitude
Column D-latitude
Example; GATSO:6381@30 GATSO:6381@30 -2.47396 52.69573
Once edited save it as AutoAlert1 in a folder of your choice, on your pc, error messages appears when saving and closing down excel, click yes to all.
Once that’s done, start Destinator console,
Select a map, for example; uk_ireland
Go to favourite’s importer.
Select your autoalert1 file and press convert button.
Make sure your Acer is connected and then press download.
That’s it, sounds more complicated than it is.
Hope this helps you.

got bombed out sorry.
Wot I've done
Downloaded this months file
Extracted from file to folder
Converted using console (won't allow to import)
Used windows to go to
C:\DestinatorApps\Installer\Console\IndepIndep\Favorites
(This is where the file is)
Transfered manually using pc
Restarted destinator and everything works.
I did this with the complete file, but I'm now going to get adventerous and do with individual files so the warning will be specific eg. speed camera/traffic light camera
