Hello there I've got a compaq ipaq 3970 running tom tom with a bluetooth gps unit from ebay.
I've downloaded the corect files and enabled them and I get the on screen warnings for cameras but I can't get the speed camera icon or poi to apear in my settings so I can have it displayed on the map or in navigator.
I also cant seem to get road names / numbers to appear on the navigator map screen although the roads I'm on does apear on the data screen below my current mph.
( the road names do appear on the map but not in navigator mode )
Any help most apreciated thanks , thegimp |

Assuming you have TomTom Navigator 3, then road names do not appear on screen in Navigator Mode. This feature was only added in later versions. _________________ Darren Griffin |

@bigmann: Nowadays it's not WAV files any more. We have a thread about the POI sounds in the TomTom GO forum. _________________ Lutz

Hi Bigmann,
to the forum!
Have you read the guide on how to install (camera database) POIs onto a TomTom GO?
As Lutz says, it’s not WAV files any more. Towards the end of the first post in the above guide, you’ll see a heading of Miscellaneous, which has the link to the article on adding spoken alerts to your TomTom Go.
Warning!
As you have a TomTom Go 300, please backup the whole of your SD card before you make any changes or add any POIs. In fact you make want to get a larger SD card (e.g. 256MB, 512MB, or even 1GB) and copy the entire contents to the new card and use that.

Privateer, can you explain to me a couple of things...
1. Are the SPECS, redlight, temp and continental cameras incorporated into the speed zoned GATSO and MOBILE files, or do I need to also add these items seperately to my GO700 from the ov2 bmp files folder? I would prefer to have seperate items so that I can assign the specific sound file to it, but I do not want to duplicate the camera location.
2. Can I use the alternative image files on the GO without converting from PSD to BMP first? The alternative images are all PSD's but I'm not sure if the GO will handle or display these correctly like it does with Bitmaps.
Thanks. |

Hi russgunn,
1. No, the SPECS, redlight, temp and continental cameras are not incorporated into the speed zoned GATSO and MOBILE files. The six main categories are all separate. I use all of them except the continental one. I also use the speed zoned subcategories of the Gatso categories, instead of the main Gatso category.
2. Err, what are the PSD image files? I believe that TomTom Go only uses .BMP files. If you do convert, ensure that the size is 22 x 22 pixels, and that the colour is no more than 256.

OK, I'll use the seperate ones for SPECS, redlight etc as well as the speed zoned GATSO's and MOBILE's.

Quick question - I see Route 66 2006 is due in about a week, and I like the idea of free jam updates, but does anyone know if it will support the safety camera database? |

Route66 does not currently support our database or other custom POIs. _________________ Darren Griffin |

A .csv (Comma Seperator Value) file, is a text file. If you want to change the extension to .txt you can. _________________ Richard

I've noticed tba files appearing in the POIedit manager, ie
pocketgps_uk_gatso_tba.ov2
pocketgps_uk_mobile_tba.ov2
Can you explain what these do if anything?

TBA cameras are those for those in the speed zoned set for which we do not yet have speed information. _________________ Darren Griffin |
