I am considering the purchase of Garmin City Select North America. The GPS device I have is the Garmin Vista C (24mb). I will be in Quebec, Montreal, Albany, Boston, NY and Toronto city centres (on foot).
How big in terms of megabytes would one US/Canadian city use from City Select North America?

The thing with CitySelect is that you can't actually select cities with it; you have to have the whole of the predefined area which makes up that map portion. I have an old version (4.01) of CitySelect, which doesn't cover Quebec but even then the maps you'd need, if you wanted to make use of the automatic rerouting facility of CitySelect, add up to more than 40Mb! If you don't want to use automatic routing or rerouting on the device, this will come down to maybe 30Mb.
If you don't want any routing at all then you might be better off trying to source an old copy of North America Roads and Rec. This was discontinued in Jan '04 so the data will be old in parts, but with R&R you can choose much smaller map segments, so might get all of what you want, although I'm not sure if Quebec was covered in that product. _________________ Tim
