|
|
Hi. I have a 2014 Audi A4 Saloon which has the MMI Navigation Plus on it. I have just updated the SatNav Map Database but I dont have any Speed Cameras on it. I am led to believe that Audi do not supply that system (as a POI).
Is there anyway I can download (SD Card) a Speed Camera Database. I have read I can go on Pocket GPS but my navigation system does not show up in their table (I believe I can down load the Garmin!).
Any advice out there......... |

Hi jjriley,
to the forum!
Unfortunately, in recent years, OEM built-in SatNav units tend not to allow custom POIs, or if they do then they won't allow audio proximity alerts. This may well be the case with Audi. Therefore it's best to ask in an Audi related forum to see if your car and more importantly your SatNav unit is capable of accepting custom POIs and setting proximity alerts for those POIs.
If you're not already a subscriber to PocketGPSWorld then I suggest you do as it's the best speed camera database and the fastest updated one because of the submissions from its userbase, IMHO. OK, I may be biased, but this is the PocketGPSWorld forum !
If you have a smartphone (Android or iPhone) then download the free CamerAlert app by PocketGPSWorld and once you're a subscriber you can update CamerAlert with the latest version of the database.
Even if you can get custom POIs loaded onto your car's SatNav then you can use CamerAlert for audio proximity alerts.

Hi jjriley,
Recently, Audi removed their online POI creator within the MyAudi system - this allowed you to send Personal POI (inc speed cameras) to the car.
However, you can still do this by downloading the database from PocketGPSWorld and importing it through an app called POIBase - then popping an SD card/USB into your car and copying the POI on to your car.
Its quite easy to do - take a look here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBZhTBO2S38
Hope this helps.. |

Less than one, Dec 2018 rather than 2008. But SimonAudi seems to be following up all the Audi MMI threads since he joined. |
