Free to try for a month so thought I would give it a go.
Signed up, 'bought', got the invoice but no confirmation with instructions as promised. After a phone call new link sent. Had to log on to my account, select myExtras, select Speed Cams then Click Activate.
Message, Microsoft Edge not supported, use Internet Explorer. Crap. Loaded Chrome to seebif that worked. No, Garmin no longer support s chrome. Dug out old Netbook, them activate Speedcams, then had to install a compatibility program. Transfer then went OK.
Garmin Express works with Win 10 but I don't know if I can then use it for updates..
Updates apparently issued every 2-4 weeks but the initial process was not easy or intuitive |

Actually it's the other way around. Browsers, due to security concerns, are withdrawing support for NPAPI plug ins, which Garmin and many others currently use. For now IE still works, as does Firefox. In due course Garmin will stop using the Communicator Plug In and are working now on how to replace it.
Express works with Win10 without issue, as it does with other versions, but you can't use that to update speed camera files. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way.

I've avoided Win10 until I know what the catch is. They aren't going to give it away free and use underhand and dirty tricks to get it on as many devices as possible without a motive.
Stop Press: In the latest pre release build of Win10 Anniversary edition, version 14376, due for general release on 2nd Aug, just a few days after the free upgrade ends, there are 2 new entries.
One is a new application called 'UpgradeSubscription.exe' and the other is a new registry key called 'AllowWindowsSubscription'.
Make of those what you will. _________________ DashCam:

have discovered an Internet Explorer button within Windows 10. In Windows Accessories the first tab is Internet Explorer which opens just as we all know and love.
Early days yet to see how it reacts with Garmin. |

As I posted, IE still works with the Garmin plug in ...
I've installed Win10 on my laptop, retaining Win7 on my desktop. One of the first things I did was set IE as my default browser. There is also a program called Classic Shell, that allows you to have the Win7 start button etc so it looks/behaves like Win7 _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I have Win10 and Classic Shell too!
I can confirm that IE is the best/only browser for using NPAPI plug ins, whose days must now be numbered. Garmin really ought to use Garmin Express for installing the Safety Camera Updates.
However, I have a problem as I can not get the file the download. I have raised a ticket with Garmin, but so far no reply, despite their "reply in three days" pledge.
Everything is in order... but
Happens every time. I've changed the cable and tried most of the USB ports. Any ideas?

I couldn't see anything significant in the Event Viewer, but this makes more sense from Garmin:
Quote: | Dear John,
Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.
I am very sorry to hear that you are having problems downloading updates for your Cyclops Red Light and Safety Camera subscription.
Unfortunately we are experiencing a problem with the service at the moment and are working around the clock to resume this service to our customers.
I have added your email address to our mailing list to receive information and developments as soon as they arise.
Please let me express my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience.
If there is anything else I can help you with then please let me know. Alternatively you can search for a solution here: http://www.garmin.co.uk/support
Kind regards,
Alex.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully it'll be resolved and they'll increase your free trial to compensate
Personally I found the Garmin speed cams not as up to date or as accurate as the ones here, which overall are also much better value _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

The Safety Camera update is still out of action, but I have subscribed to the PGW database as I'm travelling in at least 4 European countries this year. |

Gave itf a road test today. The camera was displayed late, the satnav gave a discrete burp and the camera warning was displayed at the top.
I have been using a Germany system that shouts at you in German if you are driving too fast and gives plenty of warning. The camera is displayed as a speed limit sign with a small device if it is !Mobile.
I won't be buying Garmin unless it proves better on a long run. |
