|
|
Hello,
Just a quick query, if I run the app on my iphone and it auto locks and is still active, does it still pull down a lot of data for the google maps it uses or is data usage limited only to the gps location services info?
Just read about horror stories of people leaving google maps downloading on iphones and getting huge data usage bills.
Thanks |

CA only uses data if you use the map display. If you are running it in the background behind your 'normal' nav S/W it uses no data. Unless you display the maps in CA, the only time it uses data is when you update the database. |

Hi
Thanks for the quick response.
So If I open the Camera Alert app on my iphone and let the phone auto lock after 30secs it will not consume lots of data streaming the map in the background that I cant actually see since the phone is locked. I dont use any other sat nav software as my car has built in sat nav that I use to get from A to B. Just use the app for camera alerts on the way.

You are right, but just to give yourself peace of mind, disable the map display. Settings ~ Show map ~ Never |
