Just renewed TT traffic at £29.95 on their web site. My current subs runs out on 28th Aug. How long does it take for the new sub to show up on my 750? Their email says:
"Activation instructions Traffic
Please follow the below steps to activate your new Traffic subscription:
Switch on your device
Tap on map to enter the Main Menu
Tap on Change preferences
Tap on My TomTom account
Login with your TomTom account
Follow the instructions"
There are no instruction !
Anyone got any thoughts?[/i] _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

If you are renewing I believe it's immediate.
Shouldn't need to follow those instructions. Pretty sure all I did was restart the device and it was there. |

That's strange? I didn't know you could renew just the Traffic element of the Live services, I thought that Traffic sub was for traffic via your phone datalink, not the 750 Live Services HD Traffic.
I just renewed my Live services, £47.50, and that didn't need messing about - I went into My Account and it showed them all with new valid until date. _________________ Dennis

I'm afraid I think that's exactly what's happened....
What you needed was "TomTom HD Traffic".
The TT webpage here describes it and it is indeed £47.50 as part of the LIVE Services bundle.
What you've ordered is "TomTom Traffic" and the blurb on it's webpage here says:
Quote: | TomTom Traffic gives you real-time traffic reports, as well as advice on the best alternative routes to avoid the jams. You can even get updates on dangerous road conditions ahead, delivered straight to your TomTom device.....
To use Traffic, you need a compatible phone with a Wireless Data Connection (e.g. GPRS). Check the mobile phone compatibility list. |
I'd get onto Customer Services straight away in the morning (0845 161 0009) and see if they can get you sorted out. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

They did something simalar when I switched from my 740 to iPhone app. The remaining 4 months on the 740 equals 7 months on the iPhone app and the transfer was almost instant. |

G4GVB - glad you got your issue sorted with TT Support.
However, the original question is a valid one; I have TT Traffic on my Go 710 (i.e. not HD/live Traffic), which is the type of Traffic that the OP purchased. I renew this annually.
TT stopped sending email reminders of TT Traffic subscription expiration in about 2008/9, but they do still send Map update service subs reminders (lots of them!).
So, my question is how I can check when my TT Traffic is due to expire?
I have tried on the device itself
I have tried from my account in TomTom.com
I have tried in the HOME app (since Traffic is a TT HOME in-app purchase).
Currently I just go old-school and put a reminder in my calendar, but it seems strange that TT obviously track this but don't give the user an easy way t check themselves.
Anyone found a way to do this?
John.

I didn't think you could get HD Traffic on a 710. The date your Traffic is due to run out can be found on the TT itself. Click on the Icon 'TT services' or something like that. _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

G4GVB he's talking about GPRS traffic, by Bluetooth connection to his phone, not HD Traffic. You're right, you can't get HD traffic on a 710 (that requires the built in SIM on Live devices).
johnnym100 I guess the way to find out is ring TomTom and ask them (but do NOT confuse them by calling it HD Traffic - it's the version which comes through your own phone). I never bought that. I do have My Services on my GO520, but as I don't subscribe, I haven't got it linked to my phone and it won't react to tapping that icon (and the 520 probably has different icons from the 710 anyway, knowing TomTom!). _________________ Dennis

Thanks Dennis. Yes it is the Bluetooth GPRS Traffic and not the HD "Live services" Traffic. This was an editing error in my original post where I was trying to differentiate between the two (and failed).
At least it's good to know that you can check subscription on the newer devices.
