They use different mounts and not much else from what I remember. The Rider 1 seems to have suffered from wearing the gold connections on the back of the unit. I've had my Rider 2 for over 5 years with no issues.

Hi
The one had a different mount but should have the same navcore. The original mount was prone to pin wear and intermittant connections the later one is better but still has problems from time to time.
In general the units are good, the standard Scala headseat works fine, though does add to the wind noise, personally I have the Scala team set and thats not very good for two way with a passenger, but I have seen better reports on the Q2 if you want to comminicate with a passenger or friend riding with thats probably a better idea.
The tomtom has problems lining with some phones it refused to link automatically with my nokia 5800 but works fine for calls with my HTC I dont use the data link so can not comment on that |

Further to the above, Rider2 has a far better On/Off switch and an active car-mount option, too. Also the headset is superior.
Having said that, I never suffered from contact erosion on Rider1, despite having used mine on a Triumph Sprint ST which can vibrate quite nicely at certain engine speeds. _________________ Tim |
