Message to TT
After locking out 3rd party POI's & the fun and games with the iPhone update today (it reads like an old Ealing comedy) if you are thinking of offering TT for android phones don't bother. I, for one, wouldn't touch it and I suspect not many others will. _________________ HUAWEI P30 Pro (new edition) with Speedtrap Alert & alcatel1 for SatNav

I wouldn't worry, when we asked about Android we were told they had no plans to develop for that platform _________________ Darren Griffin |

Apple and Tom Tom seem to be made for one and other. Lock it down tight and don't let the ignorant public touch it. _________________ Peter

Nothing Apple have done prevents TomTom from allowing custom POIs. Other apps allow users to upload routes/tracks/waypoints etc, TomTom simply choose not to permit it.
Their decision may be short sighted or it may simply reflect the laws of diminishing returns. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Apple lock their software down tight - you can put other people's apps on but you have to buy them from us. It seems TT are following their lead. Only our POIs and nobody elses. Not just with the iphone - look at the posiive action they took to remove POI support on their newer PNDs. And not developing their WM platform, or even getting into the Android platform - both much to open for them.
As far I can see it is a deliberate and very shortsighted policy. But then my signature shows where I stand. _________________ Peter
