This time of the year is Country Shows season (e.g. anything that is related to the countryside, agriculture, field sports, etc) in the UK. Bo Peep and I enjoy going to Country Shows as much as our schedule allows. We have a friend who has set up the CountryShows website, which is free to use to find out when Country Shows are taking place in the British Isles.
PocketGPSWorld hosts the official CountryShows POI category, which is also free to use and can be downloaded from here, and the location is : United Kingdom | Attraction | Country Shows.
At the moment there aren’t too many shows included in the CountryShows POI category, so this is where we ask PocketGPSWorld visitors to help. If you know of any Country Show in the British Isles that are not included in the POI category then please use this page to submit them. The different views (Map; Satellite; Hybrid; and O.S.M.) on the Google map are all very useful because some CountryShows POIs i.e. the car parks may be just entrances to fields, so local knowledge and especially Satellite view can be very useful for accurate locations.
Each show in the Country Shows POI category is unique and has its own requirements and therefore many need several POI entries that relate to the needs of a mixture of people (e.g. visitors, competitors, members, traders, exhibitors, staff, helpers, stewards, officials, guests, VIPs, etc) who will need to know locations relating to the show. Some shows may have more than one public car park, they may also have members’ and officials’ car parks. Some country shows may have a horse show which requires horse boxes to have separate entrances to the show ground. Furthermore some shows may have entrances specifically for exhibitors, traders, etc. Some shows that have a permanent site will have offices on site but other shows will have offices away from the show ground.
If a show is hosted by a different group and/or it moves location each year then please include the year in the name to avoid confusion for following years.
Please include the Name of the show (and year if the show moves), followed by a colon ‘:’ and a description of the unique POI, e.g. Public Car Park 1, Main Entrance, Office (if the office is off site please include the number of the property; the road name; and the town). Finally if you know the telephone number of the Show then please include it in all POIs submitted for the same show. Examples:
Thame Show: Public Car Park 1
Thame Show: Office, 55 North Street, Thame
Thame Show: Exhibitors and Horses Park
Thame Show: Members and Traders Car Park
Oxfordshire YFC Show (2010): Public Car Park
Oxfordshire YFC Show (2010): Exhibitors and Traders Park
Royal Show: Main Entrance to show ground
Royal Show: Car Park 1
Royal Show: Office, on show ground
Sorry for the long post but it'd be great for a complete and accurate CountryShows POI category.
Many thanks for your help _________________ Robert.

This is a category begging for use of the Rich POI format where you can include additional data such as dates indicating when the show is taking place, all we need is to work out is the Rich POI format - Mike
