This thread has been split from discussion here.

You could invest in an Inforad device. The K1 is small, cheap (£39.99) and they use our database under licence.

I have a K1 stuck to the windscreen above the interior mirror, it is the size of a USB memstick so unobtrusive.

It would be even more unobtrusive if it didn't have those spurious red bands around it. I hope Inforad ditch those on the Mark 2.

They are elastic rubber bands, easily removed in seconds Laughing

Really? That is excellent information. It might seem (indeed it is) grindingly trivial, but those bands have been the only thing deterring me from buying one! Laughing

PS: Are they literally just bands? Or is there a groove beneath them that is exposed when they are removed? It's hard to tell from the online pics.

There are grooves in the case that locate the bands. It's in the car at the moment but as soon as it's light and stops raining I'll grab it and take a photo with and without.

TBH where I have located it up above the mirror I can barely see it, I'm surprised the red bands irk you so much!

Ha ha. No, I'd rather watch paint dry than watch soccer. But I do have an admittedly irrational aesthetic objection to those red bands. Laughing

Seamaster, just for you, here is the K1 with and without its red bands:

Thank you, Darren. Much appreciated. Cool

Surely I'm not the only one who prefers the stealthier look for such devices? Wink

The bands serve as an anti-slip solution if you were not to use the bracket but if you do then they serve no useful purpose.

It's so small that I really don't even notice it, so much so though that on long journeys I invariably forget to switch it off when I have arrived at my destination Confused

Is it not smart enough to switch itself off when it hasn't detected movement for a while?

Is it worth putting the K1 in a different thread - it looks interesting, but I'd never have thought of checking Toyota threads! Shocked

Indeed it had wandered off rather. Now moved.

Your comment had me wondering but there is no mention in the instructions or specification so I doubt it.

Re-reading the instructions shows that the LEDs indicate camera type so I may have to re-think my install location as I can't see them currently!
