I have made a little program to extract all the 800+ symbols from the nuvi 765 (probably applies as well to the entire 7x5 family as well), 2x5w and Zumo 660. They are so niiiiice! It includes the following symbols: all POI symbols, weather, traffic, navigation, menu, etc...
I cannot post them directly for copyright reasons...
The next step is to allow someone to replace one symbol by another one of the same size. Sounds cool? Stay tuned on that one.
In the meantime, here's the link to the SymbolExtractor. It supports both .RGN and .GCD firmware files. Just open one of these firmware files for your GPS and the symbols will be extracted to your drive. Copy the firmware file to your computer first. Do not open it directly on your gps.
I just posted v1.10 which now includes the list of all included symbols, a symbol preview and the ability to save one or more symbols in a specified folder. - Added symbol replacement function. You can replace only if the size (in bytes) of the new symbol is smaller than the original. It may be a different dimension, but I have not tried it yet. Let me know if you do.
- Added RGN file save even if your source is a GCD file. Not possible to save as a GCD file for now. Once
done, put your gps in pre-boot mode and use update.exe (not supplied) to program the new firmware.
- You can use this program to convert the firmware from GCD to RGN. It has been tested with many firmware.
