|
|
Hi
I am currently using a Garmin Street Pilot i3, and I have a lot of locations stored in my favourites, due to being a lorry driver. Every time I arrive at a new delivery I usually store it, so it's ready for the next time I go.
I am now looking at getting a new Garmin unit (haven't decided which one yet), and was wondering if there is any way I can transfer my favourites from my i3 to either the new unit, or maybe put them onto my pc, and then transfer them. Ideally I would like to put them on my pc anyway, so at least I have a backup of them if anything goes wrong with the unit.
I would be very grateful if anyone could help me with this.
Many thanks
Lee.

Did it come with a DVD with Mapsource on it? (I can't remember if the later i3s had this or not). If so and you have installed it on your PC, you should be able to upload the Favourites.
If not then I don't think, from memory, that they can be transferred. But others may have ideas. _________________ David

Thanks for the quick replies. In answer to your replies, Big Perk, No it didn't come with the DVD. Everything was just pre installed and ready to use out of the box. And PaulB2005, I shall have a look at EasyGPS and let you know how I get on.
Thanks to both of you.

Ok, just a qick update. I have downloaded and installed EasyGPS, and it looks like I've managed to create and save a file containing all of my favourites. Hopefully it will be as simple when I get my new unit to send them straight to that. I shall update again whenever that may be.
Thanks again for the advice.

Having just purchased a new Garmin nuvi 760T, I used the Easy GPS program that I created the file for my favourites on my Street pilot i3. EasyGPS wouldn't recognise my new GPS device, so I decided to go into Computer on my PC and open up the files. I saw the files contained a GPS Exchange folder (GPX). Knowing this contained the same sort of files that EasyGPS had created, I dragged & dropped the file into this folder. I booted up the new sat nav, checked in the favourites, and there they were, all present and correct.
Many thanks for the help received. |
