I'm looking for a Tom Tom for my mother. It only needs to have a UK map, be a widescreen, and I would like it to to have a remote. What is the least expensive model that fulfills those three requirements?
Thanks |

If you wanted something cheap with a remote control, comes with WE maps and a reasonable sized screen, go for a Tomtom Go 700 !
..and of course its reliable & updateable too !
You wont be able to buy these in a shop, but look on the net they are out there.

The GO 920 is probably easier to find and meets the requirements, although it's Europe mapping. Nice wide screen and more convenient slim format too. _________________ Dennis

Widescreen and UK mapping is easy... There are several XL and Go models that would fit the bill.
The harder part is a remote.
Only the top of the range models come with one in the box, although you can buy one as an accessory for the Go models (but not the One).
But most people manage perfectly well without a remote, unless they want to access some of the more esoteric features while driving. I don't think your mother will need one to be honest.
Have a look at:
1. the XL (regional) - normal version,
2. the XL (regional) IQ Routes Edition - has extra map detail to avoid rush hour jams, or
3. the XL (regional) LIVE IQ routes edition - has extra services like Traffic, Google search etc. |
