|
|
Hello. I have a Tomtom Go 520 which I upgraded to 530 spec as soon as I took it out of the box. Recently, I have discovered that the spoken address input seems to have stopped working. The icons are all there and I can get to the point where I am asked which city I want to navigate to, but there's no beep and my voice is then not recognised. Is it knackered or is there something I need to do?

And another thing! I don't usually use my phone in conjunction with the Tomtom, but I've just connected it and made a couple of test calls - no sound either way - either my speech or anything coming out of the tomtom speaker.
All of the normal driving instructions are coming through fine. |

What application version have you got on there? And have you got a computer voice selected?
I have recently found that the dialogue nav on my 720 has deteriorated since I "upgraded" to app 8.300/8.301. Previously it was very good for me, but last week I spent ages trying to persuade it to understand Chippenham and had to give up eventually. _________________ Dennis

I'm using app 8.010 with map v810 and using one of the stock voices
I did this upgrade as soon as I took the thing out of the box and was able to use voice instruction nav and the handsfree function - now it doesn't seem to register my voice and the phone functions all work but no speech goes either way. |

I believe that this has been discussed before and one of the solutions tried with success was a soft reset - that's the paper clip in the hole underneath the device.
Could you try that and see if it helps you? _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

I take it a soft reset doesn't take me back to the map and software versions that were installed when I bought the thing (ie before I upgraded?) |

You can fix a lot of the annoying problems with a soft reset you should not lose any maps.
Its a good idea to make a back up in windows explorer if you have not done one yet |

rather bizarrely, I backed up the device and decided to try it before a soft reset and it seems to have sorted out the problem.
Marvellous but seemingly entirely unexplainable! |
