Hi all.
Used my sat nav for only the second time today since xmas and to my horror it could not find the place i was going to (a fairly local, long standing hospital on the Wirral). I could not find it in the hospital POI's (most of the ones on the Wirral seemed to be missing) on the device nor could i find it if I scrolled the map. I'd have been ok if i was going to one in Wrexham though.
This left me doubting the accuracy of the pre-loaded maps but when I logged onto the Garmin website to update it told me my maps are already up to date.
Has anybody else encountered this kind of problem before? and is it easily overcome?
Many thanks in advance to all who respond |

The inbuilt POIs are really quite poor, inaccurate, missing and out of date. (Tends to apply to most suppliers). the problem is that on the GARMIN you can't alter them as they are built into the mapping. On my 660 I didn't bother with any of them - choosing to download the free ones from this site - which are more relevant in UK.
It would be best to use PostCodes, which would get you pretty close esp to a hospital which may have it's own PC for sorting purposes. _________________ Phil |

Do you know what maps you do have installed?
My (latest) 2009 Maps show a local cinema in exactly the correct location. Shame, as it was pulled down in 1998!
I've never used the built in POIs, even on the i3. I ust get the ones i need from PGPSW - here and use those instead.
Or Post Codes, then sign posts.
Or find the building on an online map and use the map co-ordinates instead.... |

I've downloaded the file then unzipped it to my device but couldn't find them. Not sure what I've done wrong there. Do I just unzip them to my device or do I go through the POI loader? Cheers |

Use POILoader.
Note, if you use the Speed Camera Database then you need to ADD them to the Database files in one folder on your PC and upload the lot with POILoader in one go.
The POIs will appear under Where To?, Custom POIs. |
