Streetpilot i3 Mapsource Issues

I have recently tried to install new european maps from Mapsource V9 to my streetpilot i3. I have the unlock code for Mapsource and have applied this.
I made sure that I backed up the original files from the SD card before I started.
Anyway the transfer was successfull but my sat nav gave a message of install maps using PC software when it was restarted.
I gave up in the end and decided to put back the original V8 maps onto the SD card, when restarted the postcode search does not work, the only way to route is from the recent finds menu.
The unit seems all over the place, I have given up using it for now as it doesnt seem to know where I am.
Could the SD card have become corrupted?
