I keep seeing posts that you've taken a backup of your SatNav device onto the computer hard disk, but ALSO burned onto CDs.
I have any number of backups on my Hard Disk, but try as I might, I cannot persuade anything to go onto a CD.
I have
4.7GB DVD+R, x16 speed.
4.7GB DVD+RW, x4 speed.
700MB CD-R80, x52 speed.
Using Windows Explorer ....
The first two simply don't want to know about Ctrl C and Ctrl V.
The third says it can't copy 1.74GB onto 700 MB - logical.
So how do I backup onto a CD or whatever?
Windows XP x64 (combined with Numpty age 68). _________________ Dennis

Dennis, if you've got a CD/DVD burner you should have some software for burning discs, probably Nero? _________________ Anita

Windows XP has CD Burning built in. You should be able to right click a file or folder (or collection of files and folders) and use "Send To" - CD Writer to copy prepare them for burning. Then you'll be prompted to start the burn.
However to burn to DVD in XP you'll need some software installed usually called Nero Burning ROM, Sonic or EasyCD.
If you are backing up 1.7 Gb of data you'll need a DVD (not to a DVD+RW though) and a DVD Writer to keep it simple.
So do you have
1) A DVD Writer?
2) DVD Authoring Software (Nero, EasyCD, Sonic etc)
3) DVD+R or DVD-R (Not RW) |

Thank you both. Somehow during the time i was gone, I tried Nero and it worked!
