Pick the mass brain please? I was delivering to a Pizza Hut in Acton, its located on a box junction observed by the usual CCTV camera! (the sort they fine you with if you enter it without a exit) Some numpty was busy talking to a perdestrian and didnt notice the lights change to green, he finally drove off after a taxi driver pointed out the error of his ways! but the lights changed to red as he drove off! Now the curious bit a flash then came from the CCTV camera positioned just under the lens is some kind of strip light! Is this allowed to be used as a red light camera, CCTV is being used to fine parking, and box junction offences, but i'm not sure about red light and possible speed in the future! Next week i'll try to get a photo of said camera! |

Could well be. Evidentially there are some requirements for the type of equipment. In the case of a box junction and or RTL offence though a simple picture is all that is required.
All they need to do is be able to provide evidence of the date and time to support it. _________________ Darren Griffin |

This could make it impossible to maintain a database if every CCTV camera could potentialy be used! If they ever create a speed cam in a CCTV we'll be all screwed! I'm back there Wednesday i'll get a pic and post it! |

No because we're talking here of a separate category of offences. Box junctions do not require any measurement equipment, just a photo with date and time etc.
It may be a simple box junction camera, thinking about it, normally for TRL offences, evidence of the light state and time at red etc are needed for a successful prosecution using camera evidence. _________________ Darren Griffin |
