Having bought some expensive maps on SD cards my first (well alright maybe not quite my first) thought is how to back up the software in case it becomes damaged/corrupted.
Can anyone tell me if I can just copy the files to my PC and then if I need to, copy them back onto a blank SD card? _________________ LostMike

I seem to recall somebody trying this already and the map/license etc copied on to a blank card was not recognised. _________________ I like mapping, I like mapping, I like mapping and I like to map! |

The letter S in the SD name means Secure, the map data will be locked to the card so it is little use copying it to any other card than that supplied - Mike |

Hopefully the proper version of Satsync will not have the map data so vunerable to accidental deletion....it's listed on the contents of the SD card panel with routes above and below it....one slip and it's probably gone forever!!! _________________ I like mapping, I like mapping, I like mapping and I like to map! |

I do keep a copy of each of my map cards on the PC, you can always restore the files to the original SD card should you manage to mess up the data or wipe the card - Mike |

As the maps are none copyable...it would be nice to think that they could be made available on a library/loan basis...with a financial get out clause, in case you lose it or whatever. I'm looking to do the West Coast walk later this year...why would I want to spend £100 for a once only walk ?.... I shall obviously be forced into paper only, which rather defeats the object of SatMap for me. |
