|
|
I have recently upgraded from TT5 to TT6 and find that routes takes ages to plot.
A 50 mile route in the UK is taking about 2-3min and a route from the UK to the Pyrenees takes about 7-8 mins.
Surely this isnt right.
Miomap on the other halfs machine takes seconds to do the same thing.
Any ideas please |

That doesn't sound right at all, what routing profile have you got it set to fatest or possibly shortest, this later option does take quite some time to plan a route and is not something I would ever advise anyone to use to be honest.
Also what hardware are you using in terms of the PDA and look at the speed of the memory card - Mike |

H Mike
Im using a Dell X51v with 4Gb SD card with the W Europe map.
Worked fine using TT5 with the same kit.
I think Ill try a re installation to see if that helps. |

In the process of upgrading did you move from UK maps to full maps of Western Europe? It does take longer to plan a route if that is the case. I haven't decided whether it actually loads the whole map or just calculates the area it needs to load then starts route calculation but there is no doubt it takes longer. And it can take a fair bit of time to calculate long cross Europe routes. Destinator is faster for example but the downside is it doesn't have a per-route warning about toll roads - just avoid or not in preferences, so it's swings and roundabouts really. Have you tried just using the UK map then only switching to the full Europe when you need to? _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

Using Navigator 6 on my Dell X30 with the West Europe map on a 1GB card and plotting a 929 mile route (fastest) using tolls from Somerset to Pau (France) took 1min 3 secs. |
