Hey guys, I only subscribed yesterday and went out to test drive the database as I wanted to see how the alerts worked. There are no fixed cameras in my town so I navigated to the nearest temporary camera location in your database which is on a residential road that I rarely use. At 300 yards I got the alert, and then, to my surprise, I could see a police car sitting right there where the TomTom told me it would be. No camera pointing at me or anything but they looked like they were just packing up. So, there you have it, my first trip out and the database has done itself proud. I'm very impressed!! Smile

Is 300 yards a big enough warning?

The POI default 'Alarm Range' for 30mph on my download is 1585ft
The POI default 'Alarm Range' for 60mph on my download is 3169ft
The POI default 'Alarm Range' for 70mph on my download is 3697ft

Are those a big enough warning?

I was thinking that myself Confused

Can anyone give some advice on the distances we should set our alerts at depending on the speed of the road?

On TTN5 you can use the following.

Mph - 30s - 20s - 15s – 10 secs warning.

70 - 1173- 782 - 587 - 391 yards
60 - 1026- 684 - 513 - 342
50 - 879 - 586 - 440 - 293
40 - 732 - 488 - 366 - 244
30 - 588 - 392 - 294 - 196
20 - 441 - 294 - 221 - 147

e.g. 30 second warning at 40 mph = 732 yards
