Hi

I am a complete satnav newbie, in fact I only had my icn530 for 2 days and I'm really pleased with it for the price.

I just downloaded the speed camera database and this works fine but the standard Navman alert sound is hardly likely to grab my attention! I just worked out by exploring with activesync that the POI alert is default.wav and I assumed I could just rename it to olddefault.wav and copy over my preferred wav file and rename that to default.wav. Unfortunately default.wav can't be moved or deleted.

Can anyone help me out with this??

I should point out that right now this is the only mod I want to make, I don't want to use my 530 as a win CE device.

If there's a simple fix please let me know.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, there is some information HERE I appreciate it runs to three pages, but as yet I don't think anyone has actually managed to alter the warning sound on this unit, keep an eye on the linked thread as a few people are trying to work out if its possible - Mike

well thanks for the link. I guess I'll just lurk awhile while those more savvy than me find a workaround.

Hi, just to clarify it can be done but it's not for the faint hearted. I've been using my own sound for a day or two now. Basically you need to get the taskbar application running and this lets you run the 'Control' panel application to re-assign the default sound used by windows.

I more or less followed the instructions by Silver2Wind in this thread to install taskbar.
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=26892&start=75

I didn't get as far as installing the nydidot thing but it's not required if all you want to do is change the sound.

The main problem I had is that some of the shortcuts in the taskbar had to be recreated because the default ones maybe pointed to the incorrect folder for the 530 (this was the case for the Navcar application).

There is also the possibility of doing a register edit instead of installing the taskbar, although I've got it to work on mine it's still not well tested.
