Hi all,
I am having trouble upgrading to v6.15. I have been in contact with tomtom help but they have not been able to solve the problem. I have formatted a 256mb card (which I know works with tomtom as I have used it for a couple of years now), copied the gbmab, zip and voices folders across as instructed (the gbmap folder on my original card has the Pocket GPS speedcam db on it for some reason I cannot fathom) and then upgraded to v5.44, done a reset to factory settings at this point then upgraded to 6.15 using TomTom Home. These are the instructions I received from tomtom help. However although everything works pefectly in v5.44 I get a lockup at the splash screen that appears after the incrementing bar when starting in version 6.15.

I am starting to suspect that my original card has something on it in the GB folder, the zip folder or the voices folder that is interferning with the final upgrade.

Has anyone had similar problems and if so, do they have a solution

Thanks

Does it work if you go back to 5.44?

If so, try copying only the ttsystem and data.chk files (ignoring the system file) of 6.15 .

This will avoid the bootloader upgrade which seems to be causing your issues

Thanks. Yes it works fine running as 5.44. I load the gbmap, zip and voices folders onto a blank 256mb card. When I load this card into tomtom it tells me no card inserted. Then run upgrade to 5.44. Once upgrade has finished tomtom works normally. Next upgrade caused hang.

Do you mean I should do that again and get it working in 5.44 and just copy those 2 files onto the card to replace the files with the same name that are already there? If so, it did not work. TT stays frozen at two hands splash screen and will only respond to resetting via the pinhole.

Any other ideas? thanks

Thanks for that. TT Help are now telling me "Ensure that the transfer speed on your SD card meets the minimum requirement of being able to transfer at least 10mb per second. This is the recommended speed, as the unit constantly will request data from the card."

Does anyone know of a list of recommended cards that meet this spec?

Thanks

I've used a Kingston in the past. Currently using Byte Store Hi-Speed.

Never had any trouble from either.

Good news! It seems that a fast card is the answer. Upgraded to a card capable of reading at 10mbps (which is what TomTom Support say is the spec required for cards now) and upgrade went perfectly!
