Posted: Wed Jul 19, 2006 12:33 pm Post subject: New POI's - Motorway Service Stations - direction specific |
|
|
I have created a new POI file for general use
Motorway Service Stations - Direction Specific
I have always thought that the generally available Motorway_service_stations.ovo file could do with the:
- Motorway name
- Direction the facility serves
- Position that is representative of the sliproad to enter the service station.
I have also created a new 3D (ish) icon for use with the POI.
please go to
http://www.mobile-consultancy.com/tomtom
to download v1.0 of Motorway_Service_Stations_MCL_v1_0.zip
If you want to distribute this POI file then please link to the source site as the name will change as I revise the versions.
Please provide any feedback if any of the POI's are inaccurate, or if I have missed any service stations off. - Ideally
Name of POI
actual Lat.
actual Long.
either provide this info to this thread, or e-mail me at the address supplied on the website.
Regards
Jamie. |

Something iIdid realise on my way home is that the name is way too long.
when I get a moment I will change it to just Motorway_Services.ovo

Have you exceeded the number of Custom POI that TT can see? _________________ Richard

How many is that?
I did try to inactivate a few POI catgegories, especially the one that also begins "motorway..." but that didn't help. But I can try to inactivate all and see if it appears. Or do you mean that there's a limit to the total number of categories (i.e. ov2 and bmp files) that TTN can see in a given directory?
Thanks | If I remember correctly the number is 29. This number is the number of POI files (i.e. pairs of ov2 and bmp files) in the map directory, NOT the number active within the software! Create another folder and move some of the file pairs there. _________________ Jock

There should'nt be anything special needed to install these POI's - just put the 2 extracted files in the Great Britain Map's folder (with any other POI's installed).
Next time you start TomTom you should now have 'Motorway Services' poi in the list view.
Also check that the POI has been enabled in the settings - manage POI's section. |

johnboy290 are you getting anywhere with the install? could you take a copy of your POI's and then remove them from the GB maps folder - then put the Motorway_Services.ov2 and .bmp file and see if you can see the POI's.
The file was created using POIEdit and should load fine.
Have others had sucess? |

Thanks Jamie it will be used |
