ALK have recently released CoPilot Live for the Laptop version 7 in North America, and UK and European users will shortly see the same package arriving. CoPilot Live | Laptop 7 gives you the same feature set that many are experiencing on the Pocket PC version including Safe and Easy Interface, Live Communication, Updated Map Database, Street-Level Maps, Text-to-Speech and Voice Recognition Engine, Avoid / Favor Roads, Approaching POI Notification, 3rd Pary GPS Support, Draggable Maps, Customizable POI Feature and much more.
Keep watching Pocket GPS World for more announcements!

Dave....Why can't ALK use the exsisting package we already have with CoPilot Live 4 and just add a GPS capability function to it. We already have the mapping data loaded onto our laptops which is using up valuable space alongside MapPoint, Route 66 and any other mapping software we choose to have as a useful guidence. So come ALK, not a very clever advance really. Its another excuse to make more money I think.
I'll check with ALK but I think you will find this is exactly what they have done, and created the CoPilot Live | Laptop 7 package.
Bear in mind that when mapping programs go from country sets to larger areas like Europe, and also when GPS activity is added, this then requires many more licensing requirements which adds cost to a package. If ALK did this, then I think you would see the current price of CoPilot Live a lot more expensive.
Licensing in general is usually beyond the GPS companies control as they rely on licensing data from geodata providers like NavTech, TeleAtlas, Ordnance Survey et al. This is where the restrictions are applied, and more money is required to change hands.
I'm sure we would all like to have navigation for the Pocket PC, Palm, Symbian and PC all in the same box all for a low price, but it won't happen.
