Hi,
Does anyone know the minimum palm os required for TomTom5?
I am unable to run TomTom5 on my Tungsten E. I copy all the required files to the SD Card but when you get past the voice selection screen it just exits.
Any ideas would be appreciated. |

I have the same problem. I got my TT5 on Thursday and have had zero luck with it. Any new info? |

Well the Tungsten C is on the approved list and that runs PalmOS 5.2.1, which is the same as the Tungsten E |

I have just installed TT5 on a clie TJ35 and it works great.
The Tungstens OS is Palm OS 5.2.1.
The TH35 Clies OS is 5.2.1.
Its the same os so TT5 should work on both ? Only difference is the clie uses a memory stick and the Palm uses an SD card, I can't see this being an issue.
I have tried several times to run TT5 on the Tungsten E and have given up! |

It could be that TomTom is looking for a Bluetooth system and can't find one. The wired system is not compatable with Palm and as we have already found, the palm program seems to be tailored differently to work on the Palm than it is to work on a PPC |

Not completely correct.
What I meant is the E can't use a cable GPS so TT5 wired version will not work with the E. Also the E has a different Palm OS5 version to that of the T3 and T5 but it is the bluetooth issue that I believe to be the problem |

The "E" certainly can use a wired GPS, that's exactly what I use with Mapsonic. |

I think he means you can't use a wired GPS with TTN5 on a Palm ;) |

You can use TT5 with a wired GPS on a Palm as I have done so with many clies , it may just be a Tungsten E problem. |

I use a wired Holux GR213 with a Palm T3 & Tom Tom 5.12 with no problems.
Also I use the same wired receiver with a Treo 650 & 5.12 with no problems.
Maybe the E doesn't have enough memory? - is it 16MB? maybe it's another problem with the E. Tom Tom do not list it as being compatable. _________________ Skoda Columbus and for emergencies: TomTom + iPhone 4 & TomTom car kit |

I had exactly the same question about running TT5 on the Palm Tungsten E so I contacted TT direct. They advised that TT5 will not run on the E but didnt state the reason why.
I think the TT5 cabled version does not support Palm and the Palm version is looking for Bluetooth.
I installed Viamichelin's navigator 3.2 instead..!! |

My Palm version would be a 'bluetooth version' but I only use a wired receiver without any problems.
The lack of support is probably because TTN 5.12 is memory hungry & the Zire & E don't have enough memory.
My Treo has 23 approx mb available ex factory & has 14mb free as I run it, but when running ttn there is only 1-2 mb free. _________________ Skoda Columbus and for emergencies: TomTom + iPhone 4 & TomTom car kit |
