Inputting using a 6 figure uk grid reference

Hello

Is it possible to create waypoints etc buy inputting a 6 figure grid reference (UK) ? If so could someone please tell me how.

Sorry, bit stupid of me.
I am using a Garmin gps60.
I have done a bit of looking and I think I found the answer.
I set the gps to all things uk and discovered that you can enter points using the os grid reference but insted of 6 figures the gps requires a 10 figure grid reading And the 2 letters corresponding to the correct square (NY for some of the lake district) so for example it would look like:

NY 76 23463
BNG 97843
I thought the user manual should contain this info but alas. Hopefully others may find this of use.
