Tom Tom Go - driving without a planned route?

Guys - I'm fairly new to GPS devices and was wondering if anyone could answer the following question.....

I know I can plan a route on the Tom Tom Go and it will give instructions, but if I were driving around and was not following a preset route could the Tom Tom just show a map of my progress with POI's etc as I went -without prompts??

Any help would be appreciated as I'm wanting to go for a Tom Tom Go 300.

There are two options that will do what you want. You can clear the route and just drive around. Hit the "Clear Route" button to do this.

You can also change between a 2 dimensional map and a 3D view.

All your Points of Interest will show up and any Speed/Safety Cameras you have loaded (see menu on left for the free set) will still warn you on approach.

If you think you may need to navigate in Europe in the future, the 700 is about the same cost as the 300 plus European maps plus a bigger card - and the 700 map is a lot better!!
