I am going to buy a gps for hiking and motorcycling. I am looking at the 60c and the 76c. Other than the memory is there really that much different between these models? Also i will need a detailed mapping program with dirt roads and trails but freeway exits and such to. Will the topo maps do all this or would another be the way to go?Maybe ill need two different products I dont know. Hopefully the auto routing works with the topo. This is alot to figure out before I can purchase, I hope you can help. |

The memory really is the big catch from 56mb on the 60C to 115mb on the 76C. Now if you're going to be doing a lot of hiking then I'd recommend looking at the 60CS or 76CS. These have (S)ensors which consist of an electronic compass and a barometric altimeter and the latter would probably be more use to you when hiking (if climbing mountains/hills or fell walking).

Topo I don't think will go into that much detail off road, if you're really looking for that level of detail then I would strongly look at matching a handheld GPS up with a Pocket PC and going for some topo software like Memory-Map, MapTech or Fugawi. |

Another biker! 8)
I recommend that you get the GPS with more memory, it's a pain when you have to change maps.
Garmin do Topographical maps of the USA (I assume you are in the USA). According to the website, these have auto routable trails and "some" roads. I am not sure if the roads are routable too. Check out the webpage: http://www.garmin.com//cartography/mapSource/topo24knpeast.jsp
You may want to get something like City Select for street routing and you can use the GPS in your car too.
There have been a few threads regarding mounting a GPS on a bike which may interest you too.
The alternative to a Garmin is to get a Pocket PC which you can use to scan a paper map and calibrate it for use with GPS. The downside to the Pocket PC is that it isn't anywhere near as robust as the Garmin for outdoor use. |

You may also want to check out http://www.ram-mount-uk.com which has customer galleries also and a lot of people have emailed in photos of their GPS mounted to their motorbike using RAM Mounting Brackets. |
