PocketGPSWorld.com iPhone testers wanted: APPLY HERE!!!

Article by: Mike Barrett
Date: 17 Dec 2009

pocketgpsworld.comAs some of you may know we have been developing a Camera Alert application for the Apple iPhone. This has been put through its initial test phases and we are now looking to get more users testing the application before we send it to Apple for inclusion in the AppStore.

Thank you for your support. We have already exceeded our quota. Dont worry if you were not successful the application will be submitted to Apple in the next week or so and will be available through the AppStore if we get approved.

I would like to offer 40 users the opportunity to get on board early as part of our beta test team. The only qualifying criteria are that you have an iPhone 3G or 3GS. We will take the first 40 users to reply. We will inform you if you have been successful, and post in this thread when we have the full compliment of testers.

If you do not get a PM accepting you and this thread does not say that we are full then please get in touch. If you don't hear and the thread says we are full then unfortunately were not in the first 40, but don't worry the App will be available soon in the AppStore.

We have very few rules, mainly to keep information regarding the developments appearing in the public domain. We do not want features and development directions being leaked or discussed in the open forums before our release or announcement dates. You will be given access to a Beta testers forum to discuss the app with other testers.

In particular we would appreciate it if you don't tell people that you are testing applications for us, and keep all discussions strictly within the Beta Test forum.

** Important **
By participating in the iPhone test group you are implicitly agreeing to be bound by our Non-Disclosure Agreement found at Non-Disclosure Agreement.pdf . Please ensure you agree with all the conditions prior to participating in the alpha/beta testing.

NickG (and others reading this) the iPhone DOES NOT need to be in developer mode nor does it need to be jailbroken.

The installation method requires installing a unique file from PGPSW to the iPhone via iTunes which tells iTunes it can install the App to the device.

Hope that helps!

Some people are having trouble finding the UDID. This is obtained by running up iTunes with the iPhone connected click on the iPhone in the left hand panel to get the summary pane displayed, then click on the serial number this will change to the UDID. If you now press <ctrl>C it will copy the UDID, you can then paste it in a PM to me.

Download Ad Hoc Helper from the AppStore and this will allow you to email your UDID.

There's also an app called UDID, which will email you just that.

I have been inundated with offers of help to test the Application. Unfortunately Apple will only allow us to distribute it outside the AppStore to a small number of users so I will not be able to accept everyone that has applied so far.

I will be working my way through the applications this morning so please be patient. If you have been successful I will PM you.

Hi MJH69,

I have had over 60 offers of help, with only 40 vacancies so we are currently well over subscribed. Hopefully it will only now be a few weeks before the App appears in the Apple AppStore.

Thank you for everyone who has applied so far. We have already exceeded our quota and cannot accept any more testers.

Dont worry if you were not successful the application will be submitted to Apple in the next week or so and will be available through the AppStore if we get approved.
