Osomount launch Dash Grip EX

Osomount have taken a novel, and rather clever approach to the design of their latest mount.
Inserting your phone into jaw grip style mounts normally requires two hands. But Osomount's Dash grip EX incorporates a neat solution, a small hinged flap on one of the jaws that folds back when you insert your device making the process very simple and quick.
In one fluid motion you can now, single handedly, insert your device into the jaws. And, as with the other mounts that we have reviewed, it incorporates the same sticky suction cup that is able to clamp onto a range of surfaces including textured vinyl dashboards.
The animated .gif below demonstrates the simplicity of this new design.
A 360 degree rotatable head means you can use it in portrait or landscape orientations and five different colour combinations are available.

That is ridiculously simple, just add an extra hinge point, why on earth didn't this get thought of when they were first made.
Brilliantly simple, simply brilliant. I assume I'll get a free one now ;) ;)

Indeed, it's one of those lightbulb type design moments. I always struggled with the previous design, not just Osomount, any of the jaw style holders. This one just works, it's very simple and very clever.

I'm on my second Osomount now (I slightly destroyed the first one). Somebody (M8TJT?) told me they were good at sticking, so I gave it a doubting try and was amazed how good they are. This latest one has been stuck on my van's bobbly finish dashboard since August and hasn't ever looked like falling off (even when I occasionally grab hold and tug at it to test). I can't see it failing for a very long time, so I guess I won't be trying this new model yet awhile.

I foresee a copy coming out of China or somewhere in the not too distant future with a slightly different design.

Can't see the point of the hinge. If the top jaw was slightly longer, or the bottom one shorter then the same one handed operation could be applied. The mobile screen would then be in a better more vertical position.
