Navevo announce SatNav with HGV Cyclist Alert feature

Navevo, the specialist HGV Satnav company, is claiming a world first with the launch of a HGV Cyclist Alert feature. The alert provides drivers with an audible and visual alert when they are approaching a junction or road section, where it has been determined there are high numbers of cyclists and HGVs using data provided by Transport for London (TfL).
The on-screen warning indicates a warning zone of 50m radius along with an audible tone and is intended to serve as a reminder to drivers of the need to be observant for cyclists.
ProNav HGV Cyclist Alert is to be supplied as a standard feature on ProNav PNN420 models and will be rolled out to all ProNav systems in due course.
There have been a number of accidents where cyclists were fatally injured by HGVs and this safety initiative can only be a positive step forward in increasing awareness if the issues.

Shame they don't do one for cyclists warning them of high truck density. Oh, I remember, trucks are rather large and I am rather small so I won't cycle up on the inside of this one just in case he is turning left and hasn't seem me being so stupid. Doh, it's not rocket science, is it?

Couldn't have put it better myself ! When are people going to start educating cyclists to ride in a safe manner and be aware of their surroundings. You won't protect every idiot, no matter how much warnings, sensors, cameras you put on a truck ..... COMMON SENSE is required !!!

Unfortunately in many cases yes.
currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Good bye IOS don't let the door hit you on the way out .
