Facebook Campaigners Block Speed Camera Shots
Article by: rob brady Date: 5 Jan 2015
A Facebook campaign with over 30,000 likes has succeeded in mobilising supporters who block the view of mobile speed cameras.
They are using a series of ruses - although it can't be too difficult for the mobile operator to spot - which they believe will help them get away it.
They pretend to break down in the front of the cameras and raise their hoods, camp in front of the them or simply hold up an umbrella to obscure the view from the camera's lens.
The "Block Their Shot" Facebook page is filled with many photos of those in the act.
Things may be about to change though.
Speaking to the Daily Mail Australia, University of New South Wales's Road Safety Professor Raphael Grzebieta said: "These people are clowns, they are idiots. They don't realise they could have blood on their hands with these antics."
Maybe more worrying to the people pictured on the Facebook page, Grzebieta continued "These people are aiding and abetting people to break the law. That's got to be chargeable. Putting themselves on Facebook and identifying themselves they could be facing some serious fines."
Driver Safety Australia director Russell White agreed - he commented: "Police should come down on people very hard".

The Daily Mail Australia, obviously much like the UK's Daily Mail then.

Don't be silly. It wasn't the DM, it was Professor Raphael Grzebieta who said it. The DM just quoted him.

Exactly my point, he goes on a rant and they print it word for word, typical Daily Mail. No sense of balance, just print the most ludicrous statements you can find.
Last time I looked, there were no stories of the facebook fiends with "blood on their hands" in any news items.
