pocketgpsworld.com Apple have just released the second beta of their SDk for version 2.0 of the iPhone firmware. As soon as it had been released eager developers were busy scouring every line of code for hints as to what new features may or may not be coming to the platform when v2.0 is released in June.

According to one iPhone unlocking site, www.iphonehellas.gr, text strings in the beta 2.0 firmware make references to RoleGps which suggest some form of GPS support may be forthcoming. Whether this means just basic support for external GPS receivers or the much desired internal GPS in the new 3G iPhone rumoured to be announced soon is not yet known.

Earlier firmware made mention of Nike which suggested that their sports pedometer devices may be supported but this has been dropped in the latest version. Lets hope that GPS is here to stay!
