News: The top 30 earning fixed speed cameras in the West Midlands

The 30 top earning fixed speed camera sites in the West Midlands have been revealed.

Figures available have been released to the Birmingham Mail under the Freedom of Information Act. They indicate that the cameras generated 48,091 fines in 2012. This equates to more than £3.3 million.

In March 2013, in order to save money, West Midlands Police switched off all of its fixed camera sites defaulting to just mobile camera use. The remaining static cameras were those run by the Highways Agency.

In 2014 the number of speeders caught reduced to 32,748. Police now say that they will be reactivating seven fixed speed cameras in their area.
