News: Mystery of M4 Speed Cameras Revealed

pocketgpsworld.com
The mystery speed cameras that appeared on road sign gantries on the M4 motorway at Port Talbot last week have now been removed. It turns out that they were only installed for a short test period.

A Welsh Government spokeswoman revealed that "Average speed cameras are being installed on the 50mph section of the M4 between junction 39 and 41 to replace the current fixed speed camera and spot checks by the police. Cameras were installed for testing, but have now been removed."

The cameras were not enforcing speed limits during the trial, but should eventually be fully installed and in use by the end of the summer.

This news follows on from the decision to close the M4's westbound junction 41 slip road for a six month trial.
