	News: Sales of GPS Smartphones to Reach 77 Million in 2009 According to research from the Strategy Analytics Navigation Location Opportunities Service, GPS smartphone shipments are predicted to grow at a healthy 34 percent in 2009 despite the hard economic times. There were 57 million units sold worldwide in 2008 and 77 million unit sales are expected in 2009. However, the rise in this sector does come at a cost to the sales of traditional dedicated satnav devices. Improved mobile navigation services and the presence of mapping applications available from major vendors such as Apple, Blackberry and Nokia are increasingly stimulating the GPS smartphone sector.
