News: NAVTEQ chosen by Mio as Australian Map suppliers

pocketgpsworld.comNAVTEQ have confirmed an agreement with Mio for the sole supply of map data for all Mio devices in Australia.

Although traditionally Navman, owned by Mio has always used TeleAtlas map data, NAVTEQ secured a deal to supply its data to some premium Navman models on 2008.

Clearly this has proved a successful partnership with it now expanding to encompass all Mio products sold in Australia under the Mio, Navman and Magellan brand names.

As part of the deal, Navteq will also supply Lonely Planet for NAVTEQ Travel Guide with expert content from Lonely Planet writers for points of interest and speed Limit data that enables applications to warn users against violation of traffic restrictions and provide information about maximum speed on a road.
