	News: Vodafone snaps up Wayfinder for $30m The world may be entering a recession but Vodafone, the UK based mobile network operator has money to spend as it makes a $30 million play for Swedish navigation specialist Wayfinder. Wayfinder specialise in 'off-board' navigation solutions which retrieve maps from a remote server via a mobile internet connections as required. The software is deployed on around two million handsets manufactured by Sony Ericsson, Nokia and Blackberry and they have a number of mobile network operators as customers including O2, AT&T, Orange and Vodafone. The benefits of having their own in-house navigation platform are easy to appreciate and a custom branded solution opens the door to many possibilities including location aware products, social networking and other advertising opportunities.
