Using TOM TOM navigator on more than 1 PDA

I have TOM TOM 3 on my PDA HP1940.

I would like to get a second package for my wifes car

Could I use the same software on 2 PDA's or would I have to buy another TOM TOM package.

I am assuming I would have to buy a second package

You can use the same licence number on 2 PDA's if you activate them a week between each other on ttcode, not sure if thats to allow you to have it installed on both of your own PDA's though.

From memory, the licence requires one copy of TomTom Navigator per navigation system - so in hmalan's case, he'll need a second copy of TomTom Navigator. Product Activation is there to help enforce the licence, but is not permissive. Just because you can activate doesn't make it legal to use the same copy of Navigator on two navigation systems.

If you shop around, you can get some pretty reasonably priced bundle deals - either GPS and software, or a bigger bundle including a Pocket PC and sometimes other accessories like memory cards and a PDA mount.

hmalan - maybe this is an opportunity to upgrade to something newer and more powerful than your 1940, especially if you're using other things on your Pocket PC and your wife is likely just to use it for navigation. There are some excellent new machines around now.

Thanks to both of you for the info, it's what I expected.

Upgrading myself is one of the options I am considering or buying the wife a TOM TOM GO or Navman

The only other thing to bear in mind is that the HP Navigation Pack doesn't include Navigator 3, but a program apparently based on TomTom's new "common platform" code which, at the moment, lacks a lot of features that are in Navigator 3. See here for more details of that.

Of course you have to evaluate the various options - though as I said in another post, I'm a huge fan of Pocket PC. For some of the reasons, read the latter part of this.
